iPod Nano Touch – Longer and Better Specced Than the Real Device

reimagined the iPod Nano as a longer device with smarter features and a brand new design. The result is the iPod Nano Touch shown below, a media player with a lengthy body and an original back side, with a proeminent bulk marked with the Apple logo.
iPod Nano Touch Longer and Better Specced Than the Real Device
The iPod Nano touch concept comes with WiFi, a front camera with Facetime supports, weather status, Nike+ exercise features and a bunch of classic apps, such as music, radio, images and podcasts. That back area is actually a big clip and there’s a lower black part that contains the WiFi antenna. We even have a home button in the mix, side volume buttons and the On/Off button at the top. Basically, this is a slimmed down, underpowered iPod touch if you want.
What’s interesting is that the width of the device is perfect to support the typical Apple connector cable, so it’s not very wide, which is a good thing. With a form factor like this, an iPod would be very pocket-friendly and thanks to the clip you can keep it attached to your belt, for example. Fancy this model or the standard iPod Nano?

iPhone Pro Concept Involves a Rear Mount for DSLR Lenses!

We’ve published an iPhone Pro concept before, but this new Pro model has nothing to do with the previous one, since it’s an even more evolved idea. The creation of Jinyoung Choi, the iPhone Pro has as main appealing feature the mount at the back supporting a variety of accessories, including DSLR lenses.
iPhone Pro Concept Involves a Rear Mount for DSLR Lenses!
The handset comes with a 4.5 inch 1280 x 800 pixel display, a 1.2 megapixel 3D camera and a body that measures 9.6mm in thickness. The iPhone Pro uses a a wide LCD with 2 side buttons and the 3D camera cam hook up to a DSLR lens for the best of result. Projector capability and a portable speaker, plusa removable hard disk are all features compatible with this model. For all that DSLR processing I guess that a quad core Apple A6 processor is required and also a very sturdy body, to keep that photo taking accessory in place.
The projector accessory with speaker included is very cool looking and it’s brilliantly attached to that mount at the back. You could connect anything to that special port, that I consider to be a great idea. Kudos to the designer of this iPhone concept and I sure hope that Apple will take a cue from his ideas. Rumors say that we might actually see a 4.5 inch display on the iPhone 5, so fingers crossed.

Google Vision Glasses Concept Look Cool as They Replace Phones for Good

Google is rumored to be working on a pair of glasses that would rid us of the need for a phone or tablet, integrating the social search and picture taking into a gizmo that’s as thin as a pair of glasses and can be worn on the front of the head, like a regular accessory. Now Federico Ciccarese took the idea and developed it into a concept called Google Vision, that you can see below.
Google Vision Glasses Concept Look Cool as They Replace Phones for Good
The concept was created for Business Insider and you can see more pics on their website. As shown here, Federico imagines a single lens device, that would make you look like a Terminator or Old Snake from the game Metal Gear Solid 4. It has the classical Android buttons on the edge, at the back of the head and a camera discretely attached near the lens. It’s a straight design with tubular shapes linked to each other seamlessly. This headset with glasses is able to take pics using an UI similar to the one in Android 4.0 and it also comes with voice command and GPS tracking.
You get Google Maps and the latest emails and Google+ social stats straight to your eyeballs, an interesting feat, as well as the display of the album covers when you listen to music. I wonder how much this invention would impair the user and how much it will affect interacting with the real world… I’m pretty sure Google will reveal something soon concerning their plans for the real Glass project.

Morning Dew Phone Has Exquisite Industrial Design, Beautiful Idea for a Charger

I suggest you put aside hardware and specs for this beautiful industrial design… this time it’s all about beauty and the way we incorporate nature into technology. Seunghan Song envisioned a device called Morning Dew Mobile, a mobile phone concept that’s more of a piece of art than a regular smartphone.
Morning Dew Phone Has Exquisite Industrial Design, Beautiful Idea for a Charger
Well, for one thing we have a device that’s all rounded up, like a modern MP3 player would be. It’s a slide device with a circular control area that reminds me of the iPod a little bit, plus some very cool lighting effects. This handset has gradation of lights, that are made to look like waves of water when you look at the phone from above. When you slide up the device, the light effects move from the circular navigation area to the end of the numeric pad.
This would make a great fashion phone and if you throw in some environmentally friendly features, you’re all set. And then there’s the charger… a pink arc that allows the handset slide down on its surface like a drop of water on a petal, leaf or grass. As the device gets closer to the edge it becomes more and more charged, like the dew does in the morning with petals. What do you say of Seunghan Song’s work?

BlackBerry PlayBook 3.0 Concept Tablet is a Clamshell with Keyboard

We’ve just uncovered a relatively new BlackBerry PlayBook concept tablet, actually called PlayBook 3.0 and created by Crackberry user ummie4. We’re dealing here with a very original slate, a clamshell one, that also involves a keyboard, as shown in the image below.
BlackBerry PlayBook 3.0 Concept Tablet is a Clamshell with Keyboard
PlayBook 3.0 has dual screens and borrows the same keyboard styling as the one of the Bold 9900, according to the designer. You can hold the BlackBerry concept tablet with both hands and thumb type easily on it without pulling too much of a stretch. Dual trackpads are placed above the keyboard and the designer seems to think that trackpads are still useful, even on a device with two touchscreens. It’s all for the sake of gaming controls apparently. The PlayBook 3.0 will also feature a brushed stainless steel bezel, once again reminding me of the BlackBerry Bold 9900.
The focus of the product is REAL multitasking, available through those two screens. When closed, the device looks pretty much like a very fancy makeup kit, which may not be bad, since it adds a bit of fashion to the product. No idea what the diagonal of the product is, but something between 5 and 7 inch would fit it perfectly, don’t you think?

Glass Smartphone and Tablet Are Edge to Edge Devices, Totally Transparent

Andrew Solesbury imagined a glass smatphone and tablet as a combo of transparent devices with edge to edge screens. And in case I didn’t make myself clear, these are TOTALLY transparent devices, also packing rear and front 3D cameras for motion tracking, used both for scenery and the user.
Glass Smartphone and Tablet Are Edge to Edge Devices, Totally Transparent
They rely on the idea of augmented reality, complemented by that transparency. The displays on this phone and tablet are 3D ones, that require no glasses, so I expect stunning graphics. Andrew wants the entire array of components to be held within that tiny On/Off button at the bottom, through microscopic electronic technology. Imagine a nano sized CPU, RAM, storage and whatnot, all held within a Home button… crazy, right? The buttons seen on the handset are obviously virtual and they seem very well integrated.
As usual with transparent devices made of glass, my only problem here is that they seem really fragile, but with today’s Dragontrail and Gorilla Glass advances, that’s not a problem anymore. The camera are also nicely integrated at the top, as if they were some sort of tiny buttons stuck straight into the glass. A fantastic design, that maybe some day will be turned into reality!

BlackBerry Blade Runs BlackBerry 10 OS, It’s a Mere Render for Now…

What RIM is in need of right now is an original design to pull them from the deep troubles they’re facing. Sadly, all we have are a bunch of concepts that look hot, like the BlackBerry Blade one, running BlackBerry 10 OS. This model was created by Toronto design firm Pixelcarve and it’s one of the bestBlackBerry concepts I’ve seen.
BlackBerry Blade Runs BlackBerry 10 OS, Its a Mere Render for Now...
It’s a slider device with a design that reminds of the Dell Venue Pro a bit, however with a more curved case. It’s also extremely thin for a slider, I’ll give you that much. There’s a trackpad here, keeping some of the BlackBerry tradition, plus those menu and back keys that make me feel that this is in fact a BlackBerry 7 or 8 OS handset, not one based on a version of QNX OS. The specs are also top notch: 4.5 inch AMOLED display, quad core 1.5 GHz processor, Gorilla Glass protection and 12 megapixel camera.
Aluminum and acrylic are the materials that make up the phone and we’ve got a 720p display here, plus a 5 megapixel front camera and support for 1080p 60 fps capture through the back camera. MicroHDMI, mini VGA, microSD and microUSB are also included among the specs, plus LTE, WiFi hotspot features and a dynamic color outer LED strip, probably for notifications.

Sony Xperia N, a Dual Core 2 GHz Phone That Reminds Me of the Xperia Ion

A month ago Frank Tobias showed us the Xperia N concept phone, an Android 4.0 device with 3 capacitive buttons at the bottom. Now he completes his work, by revealing to us the back side of the phone. Overall, this model reminds me of the Xperia Ion quite a bit.
Sony Xperia N, a Dual Core 2 GHz Phone That Reminds Me of the Xperia Ion
Frank wants the Xperia N to have a dual core 2 GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and a 15 megapixel camera with LED flash at the back. He also promises future pics of the device, so stay tuned for extra info. As you can see, the camera, flash and Sony (Ericsson) logo are all lined up at the back and I guess that the extra dot above the logo is the speaker (hope I’m not mistaking). A close look at the device reveals what looks like an edge to edge screen and although Frank didn’t mention anything about it, I expect here a 4 inch or 4.3 inch display with 720p resolution.
There’s also a camera button on the side and one the same side we have the discrete volume buttons. At the top there’s the ON/OFF button and the audio jack, while the microUSB button is either on the side opposed to the volume buttons or at the top as well. What do think about this model? Does it fit with the current Sony Xperia design direction?

BlackBerry TK Victory Render Has a Nano SIM Slot, Quad Core Processor

The lovely folks of Crackberry have a Dream BlackBerry section, just like mynokiablog have the My Dream Nokia area. They have been our inspiration for a while and we thank them! Straight from Crackberry comes the latest BlackBerry concept phone, the BlackBerry TK Victory, created byDigitalHomeBoy. Here’s the fresh render:
BlackBerry TK Victory Render Has a Nano SIM Slot, Quad Core Processor
This is a BlackBerry 10 OS device with a swipe-able bezel on the touchscreen, 32GB of storage and protection of the screen provided by Lotus Glass by Corning. This BlackBerry 10-powered smartphone features a 3.5 inch display with QDEF technology, software keys instead of physical ones and a swipe bezel on all four sides. The handset measures 8.5mm in thickness and weighs 130 grams, while under the hood lies a quad core Tegra 3 processor with 2 GHz frequency. We also find 2GB of iRAM (independent RAM) on the Victory TK BlackBerry, plus LED notifications and a front 8MP camera for Skype calling.
At the back there’s a 12 megapixel shooter with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, dual LED xenon flash and support for 1080p video capture at 30 fps and 5x lossless zoom. The camera supports video stabilization, and simultaneous HD video and image recording. BlackBerry TK Victory even gets that nano SIM technology that everyone is talking about, as well as LTE, DLNA and NFC. Powering all of that up is a 1950 mAh Li-Ion battery. Is this the perfect BlackBerry concept or what?

iDroid Phone, a Triple Boot Device with iOS, Android and Windows Phone

And here’s Bob Freking again, this time with a triple boot phone that runs iOS, Android and Windows Phone. This is supposed to be a quad core handset with 2GB of RAM and lots of storage. It also has a common Home button, something present on all the modern smartphones, no matter if they run Android, iOS or WP 7.
iDroid Phone, a Triple Boot Device with iOS, Android and Windows Phone
The search buttons were eliminated since they were considered unnecessary and the menu button in Android was also considered optional, while the Back button is replaced by an action that involves swiping your finger through the Home button. To me the design of this phone looks a bit like a combo between the Samsung Omnia 7 and the Nokia Lumia 900, if you want, with a hint of Galaxy S II. Of course, it will never happen, since Microsoft, Google and Apple will never agree to have their operating systems placed on a single device.
Imagine the port work, corrupted files, errors and problems that this device would encounter… Well, at least on the latest BlackBerry tablets you can run Android apps, so in the future BB OS and Android may become one… I’d certainly like all Lumia phones to offer Android as second boot option.

Windows Phone Apollo Concept Involves Redesigned Metro UI

Yanko Andreev imagined a very interesting, clean and user-friendly interface for the next iteration of Windows Phone, that involves a brand new Metro UI. As you can see, the tiles are bigger and prettier and there’s much more here than meets the eye. Here’s what the new interface is about:
Windows Phone Apollo Concept Involves Redesigned Metro UI
The designer wants to see a 5 inch device with 1280 x 800 resolution by the end of a year, a Windows Phone Apollo model and all the features of this concept Windows Phone release came from him and the suggestions he got from users. The UI is created with the idea of an infinite canvas, so there’s no need to be limited by the screen. This render brings us a new lockscreen, that allows you to choose clock size and position, type notifications and weather settings. Landscape mode is also supported, a feature that I really wanted for a while now and that fits the Windows 8 look that will come in the future.
The new tiles are live, active and scrollable ones with direct control from them, so you won’t have to enter the tile to change something. Also, there are 3 active and customizable swiping modes for each part of the display, depending on the landscape or portrait mode. So, if you swipe from the right of the screen you’ll reveal the last notification and when you swipe from the bottom you open up the applications. The idea of swiping must have come from Windows 8, I guess… And finally, swiping from the top opens a small panel with quick settings.
So, what do you think of this? Will it make Windows Phone more viable?

Dual Display Windows Phone Unit is a Futuristic Flip Phone

Created by David Quijada (Amaqui), this Windows Phone concept is basically a flip phone of the future, with a very slim design and powerful specs. This would make a brilliant Keitai for Japan, the popular format that handsets adopt there being the clamshell.
Dual Display Windows Phone Unit is a Futuristic Flip Phone
Named the Graphen ZN-500, this smartphone uses a dual capacitive display, each of the screens being 5 inches in diagonal and supports a 1920 x 640 pixel resolution. This is a Windows Phone 7.5 unit with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S8 processor and a 14.1 megapixel camera. There’s also a transmutative system on board, which I guess means that the screens are able to rotate in any direction and turn the flip phone around as the user pleases. You can even use it as a Nokia E7 lookalike, if you want, with a display being the main one and the other being the keyboard.
This extremely thin device is original, good looking and the only problem I have with it is the decreased width. Would you buy this clamshell nowadays when such designs are rare?

Sony Xperia Chaos Features Quad Core CPU, Jellybean Upgrade

Bob Freking shows us a potential future device from Sony. Meet the Xperia Chaos, supposed to be a quad core phone with a 2.5GHz Krait processor and 1GB of RAM. Android 4.0 ICS will run initially on this model, with the promise of an upgrade to Android 5.0 Jellybean. The designer also reminds us that Sony usually launches its main products later than everyone else.
Sony Xperia Chaos Features Quad Core CPU, Jellybean Upgrade
This means that by the time they release a quad core unit like this, handsets with 4 core CPUs will be midrange models. Meanwhile, Sony is still able to deliver an amazing 4.3 inch HD Bravia Display 2, like the one on the Xperia Chaos. Other specs include an Exmor R 12 megapixel camera based on Cybershot technology, the ability to to 2160p HD video capture and possibly a ton of internal memory. If I’m not mistaking the trademark bar (transparent or not) from the new Xperia is also present here, below the display.
I sure hope Sony will find a way to deliver top notch technology and to integrate it better. I played with the Xperia S and the capacitive buttons above the transparent bar are pretty bad when it comes to response…

Nintendo Android Phone Concept is a N-Gage Replacement

Even if the PSP Phone finally came true through the Xperia Play, people still want back the original gaming phone the N-Gage from Nokia. We saw an N-Gage 2 concept here and now the same designer, Davia Quijada (Amaqui) is back with a pretty similar unit, but one based on Android 4.0 and offering Nintendo games.
Nintendo Android Phone Concept is a N Gage Replacement
This Android 4.0 smarpthone seems very thin and has a sliding part with gaming controls. The screen is slightly tilted and it’s wide enough for a great gaming experience. At the back we have a 3D camera and the layout of the gaming keys and everything seems borrowed heavily from the Nintendo DS. One thing’s for sure: this thing looks better than the Xperia Play and if it has better specs, it’s a goldmine. Sadly, Nintendo will never agree to lend a hand to Google to developer such a phone.
However, recent rumors have mentioned that the Nintendo Wii U may end up being an Android tablet, so maybe there’s room for cooperation after all. Anyway, I’d like to know how many of you would prefer a next gen N-Gage over a new PSP Phone/Xperia Play 2?

Seamless Flexible Display iPhone Concepts: Ace and Jocker

Today we’ve got two interesting iPhone concepts, that rely on the idea of a flexible display with seamless design. The two newcomers are iPhone Ace, the slider type smartphone below and the iPhone Jocker, that folds within the outer flexible screen. The designs belong to redskyline7.
Seamless Flexible Display iPhone Concepts: Ace and Jocker
Both models feature realistic specs and they used AMOLED flexible displays made of Graphene and offering good thermal conductivity. There’s also a solar panel on board, somehow attached to the display and powering the handset, for an extra of 30% electricity savings. The basic good thing about these designs is the lack of seam between the two areas of the screen, exactly where it folds. Having no specs published here, my mind wanders to an iPad Mini rather than an iPhone or better yet, a 5 inch Note-like iDevice.
The main case body of the folding device is made of aluminum and also works as a cooling fan. The display here looks very crisp and the idea is pretty interesting and original, but as usual with flexible displays, there’s the issue of fragility. I guess that there’s Samsung technology in the mix, since they’re at the top of the Super AMOLED display game, especially with the flexible technology in the mix. Will Apple ever get this approach?

iPhone Plus, The Real Evolution of the iPhone Concept

ADR Studio never ceases to amaze us with incredible Apple concepts and now Antonio De Rosa has done it again. Meet the iPhone Plus design, a branding that Apple might actually apply to the iPhone 5. They already did that with the Macintosh Plus, so why not here as well?
iPhone Plus, The Real Evolution of the iPhone Concept
The iPhone Plus uses a Liquidmetal body (thermoformed on a single plane, without junctions) and the screen has a double alkali-aluminosilicate sheet glass. We’re dealing here with a device that has a 4.3 inch Retina Display, the Apple A6 quad core processor, a 10 megapixel rear camera with f/2.4, 1080p video capture at 30 fps and a 2 megapixel front camera. There’s even a top pico projector, used to beam photos and videos to surfaces. As you can see, we have here an edge to edge display and there’s also a slim dock connector in here.
The Home button is fully capacitive and the handset also comes with a rear motion sensor. I wonder how the battery will behave, considering we have here a projector, a big display with big resolution and a potent camera. It also looks stunning and I’m sure it has LTE on board as well. I guess it should be around 7 or 8 mm in thickness, if you ask me.
