Nokia Lumia 999 is Pretty in Black and White
Nokia Lumia 999 is the latest creation of a young designer that we
really like, Jonas Daehnert. As you can see the handset adopts a black
and white theme, with the design involving what looks like glossy black
glass and gun metal grey. Overall this is the same premium feeling that
you get from the black/white interface-based LG Prada 3.0 handset.
The phone’s lower area speakers are very discrete and round shaped. Inside the device they may be incorporated as some short of “pillars”, going through the entire side of the handset, with a longer, better and harder bass speaker system. One of my obsessions with Nokia concept phones is the buttons, that usually suck, even on the best looking devices. Now I’m surprised here by how nice the volume buttons, camera button and On/OFF button look.
The façade of the phone is slightly curved and the 4.5 inch (I speculate here) display slips straight into the rest of the case, without a clear bezel. The glass just fades away into the rest of the chassis, which is simply beautiful. I like how the Lumia series keeps changing while keeping the core design the same. Pretty nice, right?

Phone 6 Runs iOSX, Fusion Between iOS and OS X (Video)
Federico Ciccarese is famous for his Apple concepts
and now he graces us with a brand new iPhone 6 render,
shown below. This is a remake from a “test prototype description”,
according to the designer, so he actually know something about a future
iPhone. The next iPhone is shown here with a clear iPod Nano shape.
The device runs iOSX, a combo between iOS and OS X, which you can see in the video below. You will find the design of the phone a bit similar to the one of a Lumia device, but many people have said that the latest iPod Nano actually copies the Lumia, so who started? This iPhone 6 looks a bit more playful and oriented towards a landscape use, which is good, considering people have been asking for a while to be able to use the homescreen on the iPhone in landscape as well.
Just like on the iPhone 5, this model has a Lightning port and those tiny little speaker holes, now more discrete than ever. The edges of the phone seem all metal and there’s a general aspect of having a playful device on your hands. Also, where’s the Home button!? I supposed that gestures will replace it… This looks more like an iPhone Mini than an iPhone 6, to be honest.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Through the Eyes of Designer Rahul Sharma
Rahul Sharma already designed a Samsung Galaxy S4 handset, but now
he’s back with a new vision of the same device. He decided to redesign
the smartphone because he received some advice regarding the first
design, so he removed the physical button at the bottom. This reborn
model doesn’t have any physical buttons, that are now replaced with a
single touch sensor below the display, that will light up for
notifications.
Samsung Galaxy S4 features in this case a 4.99 inch Super AMOLED display with 1920 x 1080 resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection with oleophobic coating. It runs Android 4.2.1 thanks to an Exynos 5450 quad core processor with a Mali-T658 GPU, plus it comes with 2 GB of LpDDR3 RAM and a 13 megapixel camera with image stabilization and integrated S Vision. The latter is some sort of augmented reality system. We also get a 3600 mAh Li-Ion battery here, plus wireless charging, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 and a new range of “S” features.
There’s S Voice 2 with autonomous voice control, S Vision, mention before and S Play, a new gaming hub for Samsung, plus S Surround, for audio experience. The interesting bit here is that the camera sensor on this Galaxy S4 is a Sony Exmor R one, so Sony also contributes to this model. Rahul Sharma also seems convinced that the new smartphone will debut in April 2013 and not at CES 2013. I guess we’ll have to wait and see…
