iPhone 5 Commercial Reveals Transparent Phone With Quad Core CPU (Video)

Dakota Adney created a very interesting iPhone 5 commercial, actually using aconcept iPhone. This is a transparent phone with a projector system for the virtual keyboard and a quad core CPU inside. The laser projection keyboard seems pretty comfortable and the handset is incredibly thin.

The transparent screen area comes into play nicely when taking pictures and also we’re given a showcase of some photo editing and Instagram action. iOS 6.0 is in board and the evolved Siri as well. The designer imagined a new iClear Retina Display, with sharp imagines, better resolution, transparency and augmented reality. So, we’re dealing with an all glass transparent iPhone, that adopts glass as the main material for its smoothness and firmness and the fact that it doesn’t mess with the radio signal.

Also, it makes the shell waterproof and if you want to know more about the laser keyboard, you can activate two projectors on the side of the phone and work with the virtual UI projected on the flat surface nearby. And now here’s the video:

Minimalistic Blue Facebook Phone Has an Instagram Button

Created by Tolga Tuncer, the blue Facebook Phone shown below is much longer than it is wide, something that users of today’s large phones won’t appreciate. Just look at the Galaxy Note and HTC Titan for example and you’ll see huge width. And now meet a brand new Facebook concept phone:
Minimalistic Blue Facebook Phone Has an Instagram Button
The Blue Experience phone has an Instagram button and comes with a blue saturated aluminum casing (17.5 x 5.5 cm). It’s designed in as a wedge and the display is easy to view even when the handset is flat on the table. The display size and aspect ratio are optimized for the new Facebook core app OS. This social networking hub is all about communicating and sharing information and content.
At the top of the Facebook Phone we have an incoming message notification area and a button that allows access to the messaging center directly. There’s also an internal speaker output in here, audio jack and big old Like button at the front, like some sort of Home button. At the back there’s a camera with LED flash and Spotify is also integrated into this experience with a dedicated button on the left side. I think that this model is a bit too long to use… What do you think?

TPM Helium Concept, “The Easy Phone” – Android 4.0 in a Smaller Package

Designer Imran Sheikh has revealed to us another one of his original ideas, the TPM Helium, a very original Android 4.0 handset, that adopts a longer and less wide format. You can see below a size comparison with famous phones such as the iPhone 4S and the Samsung Galaxy S III. The Helium is about the same length as the S III, but 4 times less wide.
TPM Helium Concept, The Easy Phone Android 4.0 in a Smaller Package
It’s a very light and slim Android concept phone, with great music features and even business ones. TPM Helium measures 6.8mm in thickness, features a 200 x 400 very bright super resistive multitouch display and an original keypad design with “grip angle text”. Android ICS runs on it in an optimized version and specs include an 800 MHz Cortex A9 processor, 512MB of RAM, full Office document support and a microSD card slot. There’s also an audio jack, Bluetooth 3.0, NFC, GPS, FM radio with RDS, accelerometer, proximity sensor and compass.
The TPM Helium even does TV out via headphone resonance cable and has a primary 5 megapixel camera at the back with LED flash and 720p video capture. Upfront there’s a 2 megapixel camera, most likely for videocalls. Under the hood there’s a 1.450 mAh battery, that provides 8 hours and 20 minutes of 2G talk time. The device comes with original quad headphones and provides 28 hours of MP3 playback. This is more of a fashion statement than a phone. What do you say?

Retina Display iWatch is a Multitouch Timepiece With 8MP Camera

Swedish designer Anders Kjellberg envisioned a new Apple iWatch, a concept you’ve seen on our website before. This time you get a new idea, a timepiece with a Retina Display and 8 megapixel camera. This stylish piece of gear features FaceTime capabilities and the 8 megapixel camera was built into the face of the watch.
Retina Display iWatch is a Multitouch Timepiece With 8MP Camera
This Apple watch records in HD and comes with support for iTunes, apps, Google Maps and lots of other usual apps available on the iPhone and iPod Touch. The iWatch also comes with WiFi, Bluetooth, streaming music to headphones and a built in rechargeable Li-Ion battery. The device does Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, has 16GB of storage to offer, App Store access, AirPlay support and charging/syncing via wireless. There’s also an accelerometer on board, a proximity sensor and an ambient light sensor.
Finally, there are 8 custom wristbands you can personalize your Apple Watch with. This metallic unit is sort of a fashion statement and I’m curious if it also has a phone feature, that would certainly fit it. I also expect the price to somewhere around $199 or something like that. Do you fancy this design?

Microsoft Surface Phone Features Two HD Touchscreens

Created by Antonio Celestino from Brazil, the Microsoft Surface Phone is an unique take on the smartphone that MS is supposed to be working on. Interestingly enough, this phone features two high definition touchscreen displays, one on the front and the other on the back of the handset. You can see another concept Surface Phone we posted a while ago by clicking the link in this sentence.
Microsoft Surface Phone Features Two HD Touchscreens
Thus you’re getting an extended user interface and this model appears to be running Windows Phone 8 from the pics. The Surface Phone is very rounded and its profile seen from up looks like a hexagon. This device inaugurates a new way of multitasking, by rotating the phone and opening another task. There are also fully integrated bumpers, so the screens won’t touch the ground. Other specs include 8 megapixel front and back cameras and the chassis is merely 8mm thick.
As you can see the screen areas are slightly curved and rounded, so this model seen from the side may look a case for eye glasses. This certainly looks like something that Nokia would make, or at least turn into a prototype for future use. The only thing I find unusual about the Surface Phone is the Home button, that’s a bit too low to be comfortable to use.

Samsung Galaxy S IV – “The Galaxy That Fits in Your Hand” by Bob Freking

Since I guess you’re ready for Samsung Galaxy S 4, Bob Freking has prepared an interesting concept, a preview of what may come in 2013 as far as the Samsung flagship goes. What you see here is the Samsung Galaxy S IV design and my opinion is that this model borrows a bit from the Nokia N9 and a bit from the Samsung Galaxy S II, but that’s just me.
Samsung Galaxy S IV The Galaxy That Fits in Your Hand by Bob Freking
So, the Galaxy S IV comes with a 5 inch Super AMOLED 1080p screen according to Bob, plus onscreen buttons that make it more compact then the S III. The display is a Pentile one and the designer says that he tried to bring back the rectangular shape of the S II and cover it up with polycarbonate. The battery is now non removable and the Nature UX might make it to this version, although that’s not sure. The device will have an improved camera, as far as quality goes and the shooting speed will be 5 shots per second.
This is the way that Bob Freking predicts the future Galaxy S model of 2013 will look like. The phone is supposed to come in Dark Gray and White Polycarbonate shells. If you want figures and data, at the back there’s an 11.8 megapixel camera (F2.4), with BSI, Xenon Flash, 1080p HD Video and autofocus + anti shake. Under the hood there’s a 2500 mAh battery and other features include a 3.15MP camera, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with Google Now S Voice customization and 9.3mm thin chassis. The CPU of choice is an Exynos 5 ARM 15 dual core unit, 5 times faster than the quad core Exynos. Dreamy?

BlackBerry Windows Phone Concept Runs WP8, This is What Happen If Microsoft Buys RIM

I’m sure your familiar with the designs of Michal Bonikowski and if you’re not you can click on his name to see them. Anyway, he now proposes an interesting idea: a BlackBerry Windows Phone device made by Microsoft and RIM. Rumors about RIM being bought by Microsoft have been flying around for a while now, so this is what this acquisition may generate.
BlackBerry Windows Phone Concept Runs WP8, This is What Happen If Microsoft Buys RIM
This BlackBerry concept runs Windows Phone 8 and get a full touch smartphone with some elegant capacitive buttons at the bottom and a very interesting camera integration at the back. The texture at the back of the phone is very good for grip and the phone is crazy thin, as shown by some of the pics below. With BlackBerry 10 OS postponed for 2013, seeing it cancelled and replaced with Windows Phone is a possibility. If I were to guess some specs, I’d say this model has a 5 megapixel camera, a 1.2 GHz dual core processor and a qHD screen, at least.
There’s a camera button in here and probably some typical BlackBerry business and communication apps. LTE is also on board and I expect the Xbox gaming and BBM action to fit together brilliantly. Would you buy a BlackBerry Windows Phone?

BlackBerry Elegance is an Android Smartphone With a Berry UI Skin

Bob Freking sent us an email of a brand new BlackBerry concept if theWindows Phone BlackBerry from today wasn’t enough. He calls his design the BlackBerry Elegance and even gives it a custom UI called Berry UI on top of Android. The skin is made by RIM and complements the experience offered by Google’s mobile OS.
BlackBerry Elegance is an Android Smartphone With a Berry UI Skin
Various widgets resembling BB OS are included and a couple of UI modifications to make BlackBerry users feel right at home. The handset comes with a 3 inch screen with a 480 x 640 pixel resolution and 266 ppi density. Also on board there’s a dual core Snapdragon S4 processor and an 8 megapixel camera with 1080p video capture ability. Under the display there’s a BlackBerry button and a QWERTY keyboard, that I first though it was a virtual one, but it turned out to be physical.
If you ask me, I’d go with the crazy idea of having a main 3 inch touchscreen and a touch keyboard separated from it at the bottom part of the smartphone. Crazy, right? The UI is very elegant and the elongated shape of the device is actually pretty trendy, since the iPhone 5 is also rumored to be pretty long. Anyway, any step taken in this direction would be a win for RIM, compared to NO phone, which is what they’re doing now.

iSung Galaxy 5, the Samsung & Apple Phone Hybrid (Video)

The mother of all hybrids was imaged by the guys of Techradar: a combo between the Samsung Galaxy S III and the iPhone 5. The result looks like the handset pictured below and also shown in a more detailed way in the video after the break.
iSung Galaxy 5, the Samsung & Apple Phone Hybrid (Video)
Samsung and Apple may be suing each other every time they get the chance, but they’re still working together and the rumors say that the new iPhone CPU will actually be made by Samsung. Thus, the idea of the iSung Galaxy 5 concept is not that incredible, it’s just… impossible. As you can see the back of this Samsung Apple concept phone is borrowed from the iPhone 5, while the front is a Pebble Blue facade with Galaxy S III elements and some iPhone design feats as well.
About 70% of the device is all iPhone, but there are some subtle Samsung elements as well. The iPhone part could borrow the very fast camera mechanism here, some NFC, maybe the battery and certainly the design, one of the most criticized aspects of the Samsung Galaxy S III. My only trouble here is that the iSung Galaxy 5 is a bit too big and bulky for my taste… and it runs iOS, not Android. Well, at least it has a microSD card slot, much to Apple’s anger.

Aston Martin Smartphone is All Glass and Metal

Paul Stet, a designer from Romania imagined the Aston Martin smartphone, a flat and thin device with a soft round surface and an aerodynamic shell. This handset combines the plastic, metal and glass perfectly, for a product that owners of the Aston Martin supercars would buy.
Aston Martin Smartphone is All Glass and Metal
The Aston Martin concept phone involves a metallic finish and transparent acrylic block, that give the device a modern and elegant look. The lower side of the phone, the glass one with Aston Martin logo on it is exquisite and totally posh, if you ask me. Also, the upper part of the phone looks like the front of a very potent car. I can’t really make up what UI and OS are shown on that screen. I guess it could be Android in a customized version, maybe something similar to the black and white UI from the LG Prada Phone 3.0.
There’s also a camera at the back, very closely integrated with the speaker grille, but apparently lacking a flash. From what I can see the lower glassy part of the smartphone is transparent, reminding me of the Sony Xperia S a bit, but hopefully, this model doesn’t bring the confusion-inducing capacitive buttons as well. Kudos to Paul for the extreme attention to detail on this project!

BlackBerry TK Discovery 3.0 Concept Runs BlackBerry OS 10 on Quad Core CPU

Remember the BlackBerry TK Discovery concept? Well, Guy Bridges aka The DigitalHomeBoy is back with a new version of the phone, the BlackBerry TK Discovery 3.0, that runs BlackBerry OS 10. The designer hopes that in the future RIM will consider his creations and maybe hire him to give the company a new direction. They need that badly, if you ask me.
BlackBerry TK Discovery 3.0 Concept Runs BlackBerry OS 10 on Quad Core CPU
From the pictures included in the article I can figure out that we’re dealing with an edge to edge display smartphone, that apparently measures 9.1 mm in thickness and weighs 120 grams. It houses a 4.3 inch curved Gorilla Glass 2 screen with the edge to edge experience integrated. The case is made of the “Wonder Material” known as graphene, a composite of graphite, that can be applied in order to water proof objects, protect them against rust and even used in the field of nuclear power. BlackBerry TK Discovery 3.0 concept is a world phone with dual band GSM/CDMA connectivity, LTE, BBM and Adobe Flash support.
It integrates both BlackBerry App World and Google Play and it uses Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, DLNA, GPS, NFC, e wallet features and 32GB of Samsung flash memory. The CPU inside is a quad core Tegra 3 with a 2.2 GHz frequency and it’s accompanied by the 230 GPU with hyper graphics acceleration. The screen supports a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and other features include active noise cancellation, a 12 megapixel camera primary camera with Carl Zeiss Crystal optics and 1080p video capture. The battery on board a 1950 mAh unit. You can find a huge amount of info on this concept on the designer’s website.

Sony CX Concept, the Rebirth of the Cyber-shot

Since Concept Phones dates from 2008, I’m sure you remember our many Cyber-shot and Sony Walkman designs, but sadly it’s been a while since we’ve seen one of those. We usually got them from the Esato board and now here they are again, with a brand new Cyber-shot phone of 2012, created by forum member Reeflotz, Kevin Lim in real life.
Sony CX Concept, the Rebirth of the Cyber shot
For starters it runs Android, most likely Ice Cream Sandwich and it uses the button display that reminds me of the Xperia Ray, with that semicircle of light around the Home button. The buttons on the side remind me of the Xperia Arc, while the overall front design fits with the new generation of Xperia U, P and S (flat and rectangular). This is an Xperia model, as shown by the back logo and also at the back we find a speaker, a 12.1 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss technology and the flash (Xenon?).
The back of the Sony Xperia CX 2012 Cyber-shot totally reminds me of the old school Cyber-shot units, to be frank. Sony don’t actually need to change anything about the designs of their phones, that have been great for the past years. They just need to adapt their specs to the modern world and include kickass cameras, audio systems and processors. Will they make it?

Nokia Lumia X is Also a Portable Xbox Phone

Microsoft has never gotten into the whole handheld gaming thing, but now with Nokia at their side they might just resurrect the N-Gage in a new form. They could also use the Xbox expertise and a sliding design, much like the one of the Xperia Play. With the PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS out there, it would be nice to see a Windows Phone console or one based on Metro UI.
Nokia Lumia X is Also a Portable Xbox Phone
Concepts of Xbox Phones or tablets have been done before, but not so often with a sliding part with gaming controls that look like an Xbox 360 controller. Nokia Lumia X is a handset with a rounded upper and lower part, a pretty wide format and the usual Windows Phone buttons at the bottom. You get two analog sticks, that are not movable according to Bob Freking, that imagined them like the ones on the Xperia Play. As far as the main Xbox button goes, I’d be happy with a mere logo that lights up, instead of an actual button.
The device will be on anyway, so there’s no need for an ubercool On/Off button. I can see some cool games on the screen and I can already imagine myself playing Halo in some version on this portable gaming phone. Once again, Xbox Phones have been done before, but not ones made by Nokia. I know you’d buy one, bu if you had to choose between this and the PS Vita what would you choose?
