India based Lava International will launch the first smartphone powered by Intel chip- the Lava Xolo 900. It features Intel Atom Z2460 processor. It will be available in India from April 23 at about $420. Intel based smartphone gadgets are imminent from Orange, ZTE, Motorola and Lenovo. Croma, the Indian megastore chain will sell the X900 across its stores in India.
Specifications
The Intel Atom processor is a 1.6 GHz chip along with a 400 MHz graphics chip clock. It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but an over-air Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade is being planned by Lava. The X900 has a 4.03-inch LCD screen and comes with 3G HSPA+ connectivity and an 8MP camera with 1080p HD video recording. Battery life is about 5 hours with 3G browsing while talk time is 8 hours.
Intel Smartphones and Tablets
The presence of Intel chips will now be felt in the smartphone and tablet market too, and the launch of the Intel Xolo 900 will speed up the adoption of Intel chips by smartphone OEMs. It is rumored that Lenovo’s K800 will be the second Intel smartphone- more smartphones bearing the Intel Atom processors are scheduled to be launched later this year. Will Intel come and rule over smartphone and tablets too? Let us wait and see!
