HTC Dream 8 inch Tablet May Push HTC Into the Future
HTC’s future is not looking very good right now, since they can’t only rely on the HTC One for sales and maybe its successor. They need to get into the tablet game, like LG did with the great LG G Pad 8.3. One such device to push them into the future is the HTC Dream, a concept tablet created by Giorgi Tedoradze.
This is a simple, elegant, compact and ergonomic HTC tablet, made of aluminum and measuring 8 mm in thickness. It integrates an 8 inch IPS screen with Full HD resolution and inside it has a dual core 1.6 GHz processor, 2 GB of RAM and 16/32/64/128 GB of storage, as well as microSD. The battery of the HTC 8 inch tablet is a Li-Ion 6500 mAh power source.
There’s a 6 megapixel UltraPixel camera at the back, with optical image stabilization, 1080p video recording and a front camera with a 2.1 MP resolution. On the OS side of things, there’s a special blend of Android and HTC Sense, specifically created for this tablet. We also get accessories rendered, like a special stylus or case for the device, plus something that looks like a new drawing and sketching software.

iPhone 5S Rendered Yet Again, This Time With Fingerprint Scanner Ring
Time for yet another iPhone 5S render, this time with the fingerprint scanner ring around the Home button. That’s a new aspect of the handset, that has appeared on the web over the past days.
The folks of Yugatech implemented that new aspect on the iPhone 5S gold version shown above. As you know, tomorrow, on the 10th of September Apple has a big conference scheduled, that will finally bring us the iPhone 5S and 5C. The ring part appeared when the packing of the 5S leaked out and seemed to show a metallic highlighted area around the Home button.
We’ve been hearing about such a scanner for a while now and this is pretty much its confirmation. We also see a dual LED flash at the back and overall the same design as the iPhone 5. The gold color here in combo with the black facade looks strange. Maybe with a white front, it would look better.

Futuristic Smartphone Features Wraparound Screen With 3D Visuals
Kent Dechjun posted on his Coroflot profile a few renders showing a futuristic smartphone with several ideas we’ve heard before. I’m talking about a “crystal clear screen”, that wraps around the body of the handset and offers 3D graphics.
The screen of this concept phone can display both 2D and 3D images, by changing the back portion into a more transparent area, from what I can see. Once it becomes matte, you can see the 2D graphics of the front screen. This is a Windows Phone device and the idea of having two layers of tiles is interesting, because you gain more screen estate, in the background in 3D.
On the downside, the lower bezel of the handset feels a bit too big for my liking. By the way, the entire phone feels kind of small, maybe with a 3.5 inch or 4 inch diagonal, but once again you gain more screen area with the 3D effect… Fancy this?

Newkia is Almost a Nokia With Android, Rendered Here
Since Nokia has pretty much abandoned all other OS options after being bought by Microsoft, we can only hope they will leave their legacy to some sort of surrogate company. Some of the Nokia employees who have migrated lately may help develop a Nokia Android concept.
The render here is created by Jsus and it’s branded Newkia, which is a real thing. Newkia is a startup based in Singapore and founded by Thomas Zilliacus, who worked 15 years for Nokia. He was pretty big in the company, serving as Asia-Pacific CEO for 7 years. Right now Zilliacus is leading investment company Mobile FutureWorks and he wanted to buy out Nokia a year ago.
This means he’s got the finances to start up a big company to carry on the Finnish legacy. He will build smartphones using Nokia expertise and feature Android on them. I’m sure he’ll draw hundreds of discontent former Nokia employees and do a fine job. As far as the concept is concerned, it reminds me of a cross between an Xperia Nexus and a Lumia, if I can call it that.

Nexus 5 Rendered by Deuxani, Based on FCC and KitKat Leak
After yesterday’s attempt at rendering the Nexus 5 based on the Android 4.4 KitKat video leak and the FCC display of the device today we get one more design of this kind. This is the Nexus 5 in the vision of Deuxani:
The designer used the actual size from the FCC document, meaning this smartphone measures 131,9 x 68.2 mm and it has a screen diagonal of 126 mm, plus a screen ratio of 16:9. As you can see in the picture below, the device is still rounded at the top, but the curve is sharper, if I can say so. Also, there seems to be no shiny metallic edge and the overall frame of the Nexus 5 is smaller than the one of Nexus 4.
Seeing how big the camera lens at the back is, we could see a Nexus 5 that actually has a decent camera, something new for the Nexus series. We had the Nexus 4 with an underwhelming camera, the Galaxy Nexus with a weak camera as well and the predecessors were not exactly Pureview units themselves. Is it time for a Nexus cameraphone?
