Samsung Galaxy S4 Through the Eyes of Designer Rahul Sharma
Rahul Sharma already designed a Samsung Galaxy S4 handset, but now
he’s back with a new vision of the same device. He decided to redesign
the smartphone because he received some advice regarding the first
design, so he removed the physical button at the bottom. This reborn
model doesn’t have any physical buttons, that are now replaced with a
single touch sensor below the display, that will light up for
notifications.
Samsung Galaxy S4 features in this case a 4.99 inch Super AMOLED
display with 1920 x 1080 resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 2
protection with oleophobic coating. It runs Android 4.2.1 thanks to an
Exynos 5450 quad core processor with a Mali-T658 GPU, plus it comes with
2 GB of LpDDR3 RAM and a 13 megapixel camera with image stabilization
and integrated S Vision. The latter is some sort of augmented reality
system. We also get a 3600 mAh Li-Ion battery here, plus wireless
charging, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 and a new range of “S” features.
There’s S Voice 2 with autonomous voice control, S Vision, mention before and S Play, a new gaming hub for Samsung, plus S Surround, for audio experience. The interesting bit here is that the camera sensor on this Galaxy S4 is a Sony Exmor R one, so Sony also contributes to this model. Rahul Sharma also seems convinced that the new smartphone will debut in April 2013 and not at CES 2013. I guess we’ll have to wait and see…

BlackBerry Z10 Gets Press Renders Ahead of Launch, Done by Martin Hajek
As you’ve probably heard, on January 30th 2013 RIM will unveil
BlackBerry 10 OS and at least two new handsets: BlackBerry Z10 and
BlackBerry X10. The first is a full touch smartphone, while the second
is a QWERTY + touch phone. We’re more interesting in the Z10, since it
was recently rendered by Martin Hajek, a designer who imagined the look of
the upcoming phone.
I should probably mention that the BlackBerry Z10
has leaked a bunch of times, so everyone knows what it looks like.
However, we’re still lacking a press release and a press image, so we
have to do with these renders, that are actually pretty well done. From
what we’ve heard so far, the Z10 will be a handset without front side
buttons, either capacitive or physical. It will rely on gesture control,
a major part of BlackBerry 10 OS. The Z10 is rumored to feature a TI
OMAP 4470 1.5 GHz dual core CPU or a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor for
USA and Canada.
Other specs include a 4.2 inch display with a 1280 x 768 pixel resolution, quad band LTE connectivity, 2 GB of RAM, 16/32 GB of storage and an 8 megapixel camera at the rear with LED flash. There’s also a microSD card slot, a 1800 mAh battery, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 and a micro HDMI out port. So, fancy a BlackBerry Z10 based on these renders?

Nokia Lumia Pad Tablet is Colourful, Feels Like It Has Potential
Designer Jupeng Zhai proposes us a theme that we’ve seen before: a Nokia
Lumia Pad tablet designed just like the Lumia handsets. It
even adopts the vivid colors of the Nokia Lumia 920, especially the
yellow. Rumors say that Nokia will unveil a tablet, maybe at CES 2013 or
maybe at MWC 2013, both taking place in the next weeks.
If you ask me, there are only two choices of CPU here for the Finnish
company: Intel or Qualcomm. The latter would be a Snapdragon quad core
unit, while the former is probably an Intel Atom new generation, or
maybe something stronger. As far as memory goes, 2 GB of RAM would be
enough, plus 32/64 GB of storage, an SD card slot AND microSD card slot,
plus microHDMI and we’re all set.
The back camera could be a PureView, an unique feature for a tablet, even nowadays. The device would also have to include some special software, filters and lenses to use with the camera. Also, maybe Nokia will solve the problem of holding a huge 10.1 inch device in your hands while taking a pic. A brilliant idea would be detaching the camera sensor, sort of like a beefy stylus, maybe? What do you think?

Meizu Max Tablet Concept Features Flyme 3.0 OS (Video)
If you follow technology all over the web, you probably know that
some Asian companies launch “the future iPads” and iPhones before Apple
does. Basically they used the leaked features, pictures and specs to
create their own tablets. Now with the rumors saying that the iPad 5
will look like a bigger iPad Mini, it appears that Meizu has taken that
collection of info and turned it into a concept.
Meizu is a Chinese company, famous a couple of years ago for copying
the iPhone and turning the result into an Android smartphone with a
custom UI. Then, the devices got more and more original with each
generation, but Meizu only launched phones. Now they may get into
tablets, as shown by the video below. This company’s flavour of Android
also received a name: Flyme OS, that has reached version 3.0. The tablet
seen in the video is called the Meizu Max and it’s supposed to feature a
13 megapixel rear camera with a powerful flash and a Retina level 2560 x
1600 pixel display.

Microsoft Surface Companion 7 Inch Tablet Features Windows RT 2
Deviantart user nik255 imagined the next Windows RT already and also
the first Windows tablet with a 7 inch diagonal. While people are
already dreaming of bringing the phablet and 7 inch slate format to
Windows/Windows Phone, the device makers are not quite there yet. Let’s
see what this Microsoft Surface Companion has to offer.
As you can see, it involves a stylus, it has a back camera and it
even has room at the bottom for a kickstand. It’s clearly related to the
original Surface tablet and it has a nice sidebar for various
notifications and messages, reminding me a lot of the same bar on the
BlackBerry 10 OS. Surface Companion relies on a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4
Pro quad core 1.7 GHz processor, with Adreno 320 GPU, 4 GB of RAM and a
7.9 inch 2K display, meaning it has a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels.
Thus, this is a Retina Display Surface tablet, if I may say so.
Just like the previous Surface tablet, this model has a case made from magnesium, the VapoMg case. It also comes with microSDXC, USB 3.0, MiniDisplayPort Video, WiFi (802.11 a/b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.0 and 2 MIMO antennae. Inside there’s a 44 WH rechargeable battery and there’s both a front and back camera on this baby. The rear one is a LifeCam with 1080p HD capture. The 7 inch Surface tablet is available in 16, 32, 64 and 128 GB storage versions and comes with a magnetic digital ink stylus, that attaches to its top.
